The Town of Schuyler Falls along with The Town of Plattsburgh will be conducting the Readers Rock Program. This program is to help young people learn and love to read. There are four (4) different sessions to the program.
Session #1 July 1st to the 5th 9:00am to 11:30am Grades 1st – 3rd
Session #2 July 8th to the 12th 9:00am to 11:30am Grades 4th – 6th
Session #3 July 2nd 1:00pm to 300:pm Pre K and Kindergarten
Session #4 Aug 13th 1:00pm to 3:00pm Pre K and Kindergarten
Art
The Town of Schuyler Falls will be conducting an Art program for youth on August 5th and August 12th from 1pm to 2pm at the East Morrisonville Rec Park. The program is open to youth ages 8 to 12. The projects will be either be a (2) day project or 2 (1) day projects. Please register by July 19th, 2024.

The Town of Schuyler Falls in conjunction with the Town of Plattsburgh is offering Kayaking on July 31, 2024 for ages 10-18. If you are interested please register before July 22, 2024. For more information please contact Sam Campbell.

THE TOWN OF SCHUYLER FALLS TOWN BOARD WILL BE CONDUCTING A BUDGET WORK SESSION ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 2nd AT 6:00 P.M. AND IF NEEDED ALSO ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3rd AT 6:00 P.M. AT THE TOWN HALL, 997 MASON STREET. THE WORK SESSIONS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
MACEY LANE WATER IMPROVEM…
This project will replace the middle section of the main and loop the existing P section at the end of the road. It will tie into the existing 8” main coming to the Macey Lane development, replace the old 4” middle section with new 8” main and then Y and continue with 8” main to tie in both ends of the 6” loop. This project has approved engineering from the Clinton County Health Department and has just gone out to bid. We are hoping that it will be completed before mid-summer. This project is being funded by ARPA funds along with up to $30,000 covered by Macey Lane water district unallocated funds. We are looking forward to this project being the first of the three to be completed.
MORRISONVILLE WATER DISTR…
This is a four-phase project! The first 3 phase’s will be part of this funding round and construction. Phase #1 includes all new 12” mains from the bridge following State Route 22b proceeding to and up Flat Rock Road to the water storage tower off of Soper street and a new 8” main line on River Street. Phase #2 includes a new 8” main on Mason Street. Phase #3 includes all new 8” mains on Emory Street, Maple Street, Church Street and Julia LN. This project is nearing the construction phase. I have been working with the residents and the Town Board a little over 3 years to bring this project to completion. Countless hours have been spent to move this major water rebuild forward. This system was built between 1953 & 1956. It had a life expectancy of between 50 and 70 years. As simple math would tell you that this year major parts of this system have now outlived or will shortly be beyond their live expectancy. Recognizing this, I began work on this project in early 2000 when I took office. Funding was the major hurtle to overcome. There are 323 water district users and as I started getting cost estimates, it quickly became apparent that grants would be needed to make it affordable for them. The cost analysis came in at $8.1 million dollars. Over the last three years I have applied for multiple grants. I am proud to say, after many hours of hard work we have received several. We have received $1.25 million from CDBG, $2,562,500 from Congressional Funding and $1.3 million from USDARD and a low interest loan locked in at 1.75% for up to 38 years. I am still working on an agreement that will reduce this project by an additional $1 million. All totaled that comes up to $6,112,500.00 in grants and agreement reduction for this project. That brings the cost of this project estimate down to $1,987,500.00 or 25% of original cost. Although I still recognize this is a large expenditure, it is a needed investment and I will continue to cut cost where it is possible.
FREE ICE SKATING AT RIVER…
The Town of Schuyler Falls would like to let the community know that open skating is available for free on a town sponsored rink setup at River Street Park in Morrisonville. This year was a long fight to complete the setup of the rink as the weather failed to cooperate until recently. Skating is allowed every day between the hours of 8am and 10pm until the spring melt! The town has even made sure the rink is well illuminated for after dark skating.
RULES:
- Please do not park in front of the rink except to unload gear.
- Please remove anything you bring in including garbage as there are no grounds workers to empty trash cans.
- Please use the wooden boxed area for entry into the rink. This prevents the liner from being damaged during entry and exit from the rink.

TOWN OF SCHUYLER FALLS 17…
This year, 2023, marks the 175th anniversary of the Town of Schuyler Falls as a township. The New York State legislature, on April 4, 1848, ‘erected’ the town as separate from the town of Plattsburgh. Parts of the town were settled much earlier – by 1794 on the Salmon River, and by the early 1800’s all along the Saranac River and the areas nearby.
To celebrate this milestone, many events are being planned throughout this anniversary year. From Friday August 11 through Sunday August 20, will be a big part of the commemoration, with a parade on Saturday August 12, festival at the town hall and parks, presentations, demonstrations, and ceremonies. A commemorative booklet is planned with history, business listings and more.
Details & planning meetings are being scheduled for mid-late March. Volunteers and ideas are needed. To participate, contribute or assist, email the town historian’s office at historian@schuylerfallsny.com or leave a message at 518-563-1129, x 8 or x1-4547.
TOWN OF SCHUYLER FALLS PR…
Plans are underway for this summer’s Music in the Park on Saturday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm at the River Street Park in Morrisonville. All concerts are free – bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy time with family, friends, and neighbors. Food and soft drinks will be available for purchase.
Concerts will start Saturday June 24 and continue through the end of the summer. We have a great line-up so far and are looking for a few more groups to perform. Volunteers always appreciated to help set-up, clean-up and assist with the food prep, cook, serve.

The Town of Schuyler Falls is now accepting signups for a Pickleball Camp that is scheduled to run August 5th – 9th. PLUS: We are also looking at additional events over the year, with a big celebration in mid – August, including a parade on Saturday August 12, 2023. The Music in the Park series also continues this summer on Saturday evenings.
The next event will be Friday April 28, from 10am to 2pm – on National Historic Marker Day – cleaning as many of the 20 historic markers in the town of Schuyler Falls.

MOSQUITO DUNKS AVAILABLE…
We now have FREE Mosquitoes Dunks available for pickup at the Schuyler Falls Town Office. They were provided by Clinton County and are free to all residents of the town. If interested, please stop by the Town Office Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 3:00pm. They will be handed out on a first come first serve bases as supplies last. PLEASE HELP to control the Mosquito population in our area by using these free dunks around your home. An information sheet will be handed out to each person that picks up a pack to help identify possible locations of concern around your home. Thank you in advance for your help.
