Codes & Zoning
The Planning and Building Departments are all interconnected in supporting the Town Comprehensive Plan. The Building Department enforces all New York State and Town of Schuyler Falls Building Code Requirements in a manner to ensure the safety and stability of all structures within the Town.
Once an application is approved by the Planning Department, it moves to the Building Department where any relevant permits are issued, and the work is reviewed by the building inspector, town engineer, and code enforcement personnel. The Building Department also oversees the issuance of 911 addressing, building permits for renovations or additions, and certificates of occupancy, which are required for all building in the Town of Schuyler Falls.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals is a state mandatory board consisting of five (5) members for the Town of Schuyler Falls. The Zoning Board of Appeals is given the jurisdiction to decide on appeals for decisions made by the codes and zoning officials enforcement of local zoning ordinance and law. The Zoning Board of Appeals has the power to interpret the zoning ordinance and grant variances to the decisions.

Planning Board
The Planning Board’s role is to make recommendations to the zoning board of appeals, portray the importance of the board procedures, make referrals to the county planning agency.
